Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
An important representative said the incident left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
